About Akira Tozawa
A Dragon Gate dojo graduate who brought his “Stamina Monster” energy to WWE via the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic, Tozawa reached his first company peak in August 2017 by capturing the WWE Cruiserweight Championship from Neville. He would go on to become a 16-time WWE 24/7 Champion, while his pre-WWE résumé included the Open the Brave Gate, Open the Twin Gate, and Open the Triangle Gate titles during a twelve-year run in Dragon Gate. Known for lightning-fast strikes, crisp German suplexes, and a precise bicycle kick, Tozawa has long been one of Raw’s most dependably entertaining performers.
In 2026, Tozawa continues to thrive within Alpha Academy alongside Otis and Maxxine Dupri as a foundational member of the Raw tag team division. He remains on the Raw brand, and as recently as June 2025, he was also working NXT house shows as part of Alpha Academy.
