About Apollo Crews
Originally breaking through on the independent scene as Uhaa Nation — earning acclaim in Dragon Gate USA and Japan — Sesugh Uhaa signed with WWE in 2015 and was rebranded Apollo Crews in NXT. He reached the main roster in April 2016, capturing the United States Championship in May 2020 and the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 37. The IC title win came via a brutal Nigerian Drum Fight against Big E, the peak of his “Nigerian royalty” heel run alongside Commander Azeez — a rare creative bright spot in an otherwise inconsistent push across Raw and SmackDown.
Crews was released as part of WWE’s post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts, ending an 11-year run with the promotion. His last televised appearance was a loss to Mr. Iguana on the April 23 episode of WWE Main Event, with a prior spot in the 2026 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on SmackDown. With TNA already among the promotions rumored to have interest, Crews figures to land somewhere quickly at 38 years old with legitimate upside still on the table.
