The Masterpiece Chris Masters debuted in WWE in 2005 with an unbreakable full nelson submission hold dubbed the Master Lock, which he protected through challenge segments where wrestlers attempted to escape for cash prizes. The Master Lock Challenge storyline concluded when Bobby Lashley broke the hold on March 20, 2007. Masters was released in 2007, worked the independent circuit for two years, returned to WWE from 2009 to 2011, then was released again. His Impact Wrestling stint ended in 2018, and he has competed primarily in NWA events since March 2021, holding the NWA National Championship twice including a 221-day reign.
Masters currently works the independent circuit under the ring name Chris Adonis. He wrestles regularly on the indie scene and previously held two reigns as NWA National Champion. While he remains hopeful for major opportunities, Masters acknowledged the landscape may not provide another significant platform, though he says his in-ring abilities have never been better.
