Cyndi Lauper
About Cyndi Lauper
One of the great unsung architects of the WWE’s mainstream explosion, Cyndi Lauper debuted in the WWF in June 1984, quickly becoming Wendi Richter’s manager and engineering Richter’s upset win over The Fabulous Moolah at The Brawl to End It All, broadcast live on MTV on July 23, 1984. A key figure in the Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection of the mid-1980s, she teamed frequently with Captain Lou Albano and feuded with Roddy Piper, helping bridge wrestling to the mainstream. Her run culminated at the inaugural WrestleMania, where she managed Richter to a Women’s Championship victory.
In June 2012, Lauper made her first WWE appearance in 27 years to promote Raw’s 1,000th episode, being presented with a framed gold record in the ring, which she smashed over Heath Slater’s head. Despite her foundational contributions, she has yet to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame’s Celebrity Wing — a glaring omission that voices like Jimmy Hart and Jim Ross continue to call out. Most recently, Lauper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on November 8, 2025, and Mattel announced her first-ever WWE action figure as part of a Rock ‘n’ Wrestling-era Elite 3-Pack SDCC exclusive in 2026.
