About Goldberg
One of wrestling’s most explosive phenomena, Goldberg rose to prominence in WCW on the strength of a legendary undefeated streak from 1997 to 1998, capturing the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, two United States Heavyweight titles, and the WCW World Tag Team Championship alongside Bret Hart. After WCW’s closure, he joined WWE and won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2003, then returned in 2016 to claim the Universal Championship twice, headlining the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2018 and becoming the only wrestler to win a world title after his induction.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event XL on July 12, 2025, in Atlanta, Goldberg fell to Gunther in his retirement match, ending a 28-year career. He succumbed to the World Heavyweight Champion via sleeper hold in a hotly-contested main event, bowing out in his hometown. Since hanging up his boots, Goldberg has spoken publicly about his career and his complicated history with Triple H, whom he has described as a “good guy” despite past tensions.
