Known as The Ring General, GUNTHER’s punishing in-ring style is legendary — particularly his brutal knife-edge chops. He made his mark in NXT UK by ending Pete Dunne’s 685-day reign to become WWE United Kingdom Champion, a reign that lasted a staggering 870 days. On SmackDown, he captured the Intercontinental Championship and held it for 666 days — the longest reign in the title’s history. In 2024, he won the King of the Ring tournament and dethroned Damian Priest to become World Heavyweight Champion. He also retired AJ Styles at Royal Rumble 2026, defeating him in a career-ending match.
The rivalry with Cody Rhodes ignited after WrestleMania 42, when Paul Heyman brokered a deal to move GUNTHER to SmackDown and secure him an Undisputed WWE Championship shot. At Clash in Italy on May 31, Rhodes retained despite GUNTHER’s foot being under the rope during the deciding pinfall. The feud continues on the European tour, with GUNTHER battling Rhodes at live events in Lisbon and Madrid as he pursues unfinished business with the title.
