Hiroshi Tanahashi holds a record eight reigns as IWGP Heavyweight Champion and won the G1 Climax tournament twice during his storied run with NJPW. His innovative offense, signature air-guitar charisma, and consistency transformed him into wrestling’s defining “Ace,” the standard against which organizational importance is measured across Japanese wrestling. All told, he captured 26 championships throughout his career.
Tanahashi retired at Wrestle Kingdom 20 in the Tokyo Dome following a legendary 26-year career. He now serves as the president and representative director of NJPW.
