Universally recognized as the greatest voice in professional wrestling history, “Good Ol’ JR” built his legacy calling the biggest moments of WWE’s Attitude Era on Monday Night Raw throughout the late 1990s and 2000s. As WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, he was also instrumental in signing future stars including Dwayne Johnson, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, and John Cena. Ross was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
In 2019, AEW signed Ross as a play-by-play commentator, where he also serves as an analyst and senior advisor. As of mid-2026, Ross has been sidelined from commentary duties after being hospitalized for more than three weeks following AEW Double or Nothing, but has remained in contact with fans via social media, telling them he is “still fighting.”
