The Octopus claimed ROH’s top prize at Final Battle 2021 after defeating Jay Lethal, following a 2020 resurgence where he won the revived Pure Championship and its flagship tournament before becoming a double champion. Gresham’s inaugural Beyond Wrestling Independent Championship reign saw successful defenses against Nick Gage, while his mastery of submissions and technical reversals made him one of wrestling’s most accomplished submission specialists across independent promotions and Combat Zone Wrestling, where he won their world heavyweight title.
Currently, Gresham is set to compete in the 2026 Jersey J-Cup tournament taking place February 6-7 at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, New Jersey. He made a full recovery as of August 24, 2025, and resumed non-wrestling training following two strokes suffered earlier that summer. He holds the current ROH World Championship and Progress Wrestling World Championship, defending both outside their respective promotions due to ROH’s hiatus and restructuring.
