Matt Sydal
About Matt Sydal
One of the most gifted aerial technicians of his generation, the St. Louis native built his name on a breathtaking high-flying style anchored by his Shooting Star Press. As Evan Bourne in WWE, he formed Air Boom with Kofi Kingston and held the WWE Tag Team Championship for 145 days. Post-WWE, he accumulated gold across Impact — winning the Grand Championship and X-Division title — ROH, and NJPW, where he captured two IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team reigns alongside Ricochet and the NEVER Openweight Six-Man title.
Sydal made his AEW debut at All Out 2020 as a surprise entrant in the Casino Battle Royal and became a familiar face across Dynamite, Rampage, Collision, and Ring of Honor programming. His last AEW appearance was a loss to Konosuke Takeshita on the May 22, 2024 edition of Dynamite, after which he underwent surgery that June to repair lingering damage from a 2012 motorcycle accident. He made his in-ring return on July 19, 2025, facing Ultimo Dragon at an event in France, and AEW has since held internal discussions about bringing him back to the promotion in the near future.
