About Shawn Spears
A veteran reinventor who made his bones under the “Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger persona in NXT before a SmackDown call-up in 2017, Shawn Spears spent four years in AEW cementing his “Chairman” character before rejoining WWE in February 2024 and returning to the NXT brand. He retained the Shawn Spears name and Chairman gimmick rather than reverting to Tye Dillinger. He captured the NXT North American Championship by defeating Tony D’Angelo on the March 4 NXT episode, only to drop the title to Ricky Saints 28 days later.
Spears subsequently formed The Culling alongside Izzi Dame and Niko Vance, positioning himself as a veteran mentor figure on the brand. That came to an abrupt end on the June 23 NXT, where Spears distracted Dame during a crucial match, and later refused to tag in Niko Vance during a tag team loss, triggering the faction’s implosion and leaving Spears cast out of The Culling heading into NXT Great American Bash.
