One of the Ruthless Aggression Era’s most singular creations, Marty Wright debuted the Boogeyman character on SmackDown in 2005 after developing it in OVW under Jim Cornette. His greatest in-ring career victory came at WrestleMania 22, dispatching King Booker T and Queen Sharmell in under four minutes. The character’s hook — playing on opponents’ fears and feeding them worms — created a wildly unique act that outlasted every skeptic’s expectations across a near-decade of sporadic WWE appearances.
Currently under a Legends deal with WWE, Wright makes sporadic appearances for the company but has not competed in a WWE ring since the 2015 Royal Rumble, where he was eliminated by the late Bray Wyatt. In 2025, Wright called out Triple H on X, teasing one last run in WWE and reminding a new generation exactly why the Boogeyman still gets under people’s skin.
