One of NXT’s defining success stories of the modern era, Trick Williams broke out as a singles star after splitting from the Trick Melo Gang, riding the crowd-driven “Whoop That Trick” phenomenon to become a two-time NXT Champion and TNA World Champion — defeating Joe Hendry at NXT Battleground on May 25, 2025, becoming the first active WWE-contracted wrestler to hold the TNA World Championship. A former college football player who pivoted to wrestling after going undrafted in 2017, Williams initially made his name as Hayes’ charismatic hype man before establishing himself as a legitimate main-event talent.

Williams captured his first main roster gold at WrestleMania 42, dethroning Sami Zayn for the United States Championship. He followed that up at Backlash, retaining the title over Zayn with rapper Lil Yachty at ringside. Now holding the US title heading into the summer, Williams has entered the 2026 King of the Ring tournament, which culminates at Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on June 27, with the winner earning a World title shot at SummerSlam.
