Yuji Nagata

A two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion who carried the belt through a record 10 consecutive defenses — earning him the moniker “Mr. IWGP” — Nagata debuted with NJPW in 1992 and established himself as the company’s ace in the early 2000s. He remains the only wrestler to have won Japanese pro wrestling’s three biggest singles tournaments: the G1 Climax, All Japan’s Champion Carnival, and Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Global League. His résumé also includes the IWGP Tag Team Championship, the NEVER Openweight Championship, multiple New Japan Cup victories, and the GHC Heavyweight Championship.

On June 20, 2026, Nagata hosted his annual hometown charity show, Blue Justice XVIII, at City Gymnasium in Kimitsu, Chiba, Japan. In the main event, Nagata teamed with NEVER Openweight Champion Aaron Wolf and returning guest Josh Barnett to defeat House of Torture’s Ren Narita, Yujiro Takahashi, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Beyond his in-ring work, Nagata also runs an amateur wrestling studio for NJPW, training the next generation of talent.
