Steve Maclin has detailed the creative frustrations that contributed to his exit from TNA Wrestling after a five-year run with the company. In an extensive interview with TSN, released ahead of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s Northern Rising show, Maclin explained that his final stretch with the promotion felt like “an uphill battle” as multiple pitches to the creative team failed to materialize.
“I kind of felt towards the end of my fifth year I was just spinning the wheels,” Maclin told TSN, describing a stretch where his ideas were not being put into action despite regular efforts to bring them to the creative team.
According to Maclin, the pattern of unused pitches built up over time, and he said it reached a point where it felt like he was constantly fighting an uphill battle within the company. He did not detail the specific creative ideas he pitched, and TNA has not publicly commented on Maclin’s remarks.
Maclin’s comments come as he looks back on a tenure that spanned roughly half a decade with TNA before his departure. The interview was tied to his appearance at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s Northern Rising event.
