WWE’s early thinking on Enzo Amore and Big Cass did not involve putting them back together as a tag team, according to Dave Meltzer. Speaking on Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that when talk first began about bringing both men back to the company, the original plan was to keep Amore and Cass apart.
Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the subject on the post-Raw edition of the show while recapping Big Cass’s involvement in the October 5 episode of WWE Raw, where Cass took out Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee. According to Meltzer, WWE believed that reuniting Cass with Amore could put a ceiling on what Cass might become as a singles performer, which is why the company reportedly steered away from an immediate reunion.
Big Cass made his return to WWE on the August 3, 2026 episode of Raw, which followed Je’Von Evans’s victory over an opponent on that show. Enzo Amore’s return to the company was also reported to have been close to finalized around the same period, though the two were not immediately reunited on screen.
It remains unclear from the available reporting whether WWE’s stance on keeping the pair apart has shifted in light of Cass’s recent actions against Mysterio and Dragon Lee on Raw. The reports do not specify any further creative direction for Amore or Cass beyond what Meltzer described on Wrestling Observer Radio.
