Bishop Kaun says The Demand, the AEW faction he forms alongside Ricochet and Toa Liona, almost looked completely different, revealing that two other wrestlers were originally supposed to be paired with Ricochet instead of him and Liona.
Speaking on The Certified Mark Show, Kaun detailed how the group actually came together, saying that he believes a different pairing was initially planned to stand alongside Ricochet before he and Liona effectively earned their way into the stable. According to Kaun’s account, he and Liona made such an impression that they secured their places in the group themselves, rather than being assigned to it as originally intended.
The Demand have gone on to become one of the more notable trios acts in All Elite Wrestling, with Ricochet, Bishop Kaun, and Toa Liona previously holding the AEW World Trios Championship together. Their run atop the trios division established the group as a legitimate force in that title scene, and Kaun’s comments offer a rare look behind the curtain at how the faction was actually assembled, as opposed to how it was originally drawn up.
Kaun did not detail who the two other wrestlers originally pegged to work alongside Ricochet were, and the supplied reporting does not identify them by name. What is established, however, is Kaun’s own characterization of the process: that he and Liona did not simply walk into the group, but rather had to prove themselves to be included, a claim that adds some context to how trios and faction groupings are sometimes reworked behind the scenes before they reach television.
The revelation comes as The Demand continue to be positioned as a unit within AEW’s trios landscape, with their prior reign as AEW World Trios Champions serving as the clearest marker of the group’s success to date. Whether the originally planned pairing ever factors into future storylines involving Ricochet, Kaun, or Liona remains to be seen, as the sources do not address any such plans.
