TKO Group held a company-wide town hall meeting on October 28 in which President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Shapiro addressed employees about safety concerns surrounding the company’s upcoming events in the Middle East. According to Fightful, Shapiro told staff that the safety of everyone involved was “paramount” with regard to those events.
The meeting was conducted via Zoom and drew employees from across TKO’s portfolio of brands, including WWE, UFC, Zuffa Boxing, and On Location, according to reporting from Rajah, which cited PWInsider.com and FightfulSelect.com. Rajah described the gathering as taking place in the context of a recent change to WWE Crown Jewel, which saw the event’s venue altered.
Per PWInsider’s characterization, relayed by Rajah, the session was largely a “rah rah meeting” in which Shapiro worked through a department-by-department recap of each brand under the TKO umbrella. Nick Khan was also reported to have spoken during the town hall, according to Rajah’s report.
The timing of the meeting, coming shortly after the Crown Jewel venue change was announced, has drawn attention from outlets covering TKO’s operations, with 411Mania and WrestleView both independently reporting on the town hall and its connection to the company’s Middle East events. None of the reports detailed the specific nature of the safety concerns that prompted Shapiro’s comments, nor did they specify additional logistical changes beyond the venue shift for Crown Jewel.
TKO’s reach into the Middle East has expanded in recent years as WWE and UFC have each staged marquee events in the region, making the logistics and security planning for those shows a matter of ongoing internal communication for the company. The town hall format, spanning WWE, UFC, Zuffa Boxing, and On Location staff simultaneously, reflects how closely TKO’s various properties are now managed under a single corporate structure following the 2023 merger that created the company.
As of publication, TKO has not issued a separate public statement elaborating on the safety measures referenced during the meeting, and no further details on the scope of the Crown Jewel venue change were included in the available reporting.
