José Guadalupe Fuentes Ochoa, known to wrestling fans as Babe Face, has died at the age of 79, according to Fightful.
Fuentes Ochoa made his professional debut in 1970 and, despite his ring name, spent much of his career working as a rudo. Over the course of his run he wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, AAA, and CMLL, among other promotions, building a reputation across both Mexican and international lucha libre circuits.
In 1981, he captured the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship, one of the notable accolades of his long career.
His death was also reported by eWrestlingNews, which noted that the wrestling community was additionally mourning the loss of Jose “Jacobs” Trujillo, whose passing was announced separately by Maryland Championship Wrestling.
