AEW World Champion Will Ospreay will take on Ricochet on the September 30 episode of AEW Dynamite, with the show serving as a tribute to the late PAC. Tony Khan announced the match on social media on Tuesday, writing that the two “iconic rivals” of the “late great legend PAC” would fight in his memory.
According to TPWW, the tribute episode will be held at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and comes in the wake of PAC’s death, with reports indicating Benjamin Satterley passed away this past Sunday.
Ospreay and Ricochet share a lengthy in-ring history that both wrestlers also connect to PAC, having each had notable programs with him over the years. Fightful noted the pairing includes “a classic” prior encounter between the two, underscoring why the matchup was chosen to headline part of the tribute card.
This will mark Ospreay’s first announced title defense of Ricochet since the match was confirmed, though no stipulation beyond a singles bout has been detailed by Khan or reported by outlets covering the announcement.
AEW has not released further details on the rest of the September 30 Dynamite card at this time.
