Bryan Danielson’s surprise return to the ring on the September 30 edition of AEW Dynamite does not appear to signal the start of another in-ring run, according to a report from Fightful Select. The outlet reports that Danielson’s involvement was intended to be a one-night appearance from the outset.
That episode of Dynamite was reworked into a tribute show for the late Benjamin “PAC” Satterley, and AEW made significant last-minute changes to the card as a result. According to Wrestling Headlines, those changes included moving up several on-screen and in-ring returns that had originally been planned for later in the year, with Danielson among the performers whose appearance was accelerated to fit the tribute broadcast.
Rajah similarly reported that multiple wrestlers who were set to return at some point later in 2026 instead came back ahead of schedule on the tribute show, as AEW reshaped its plans in the days before the broadcast to honor PAC.
AEW’s next Dynamite episode is the Grand Slam Paris edition, which airs on Tuesday, October 6 in its usual 8 PM ET slot. The show was moved from its normal night due to Major League Baseball playoff scheduling and will air directly opposite WWE NXT, according to Rajah.
No further details on Danielson’s long-term in-ring status beyond the PAC tribute appearance have been confirmed.
