Samoa Joe Sets Sights on Ending Will Ospreay’s AEW World Title Reign at WrestleDream’s Clockwork Carnage Match

Samoa Joe says he quickly understood the rules of AEW's new Clockwork Carnage stipulation and is focused on dethroning Will Ospreay, as the promotion also addresses Kevin Knight's account of staying with Steven Borden following his All Out 2026 injury.

Samoa Joe has made clear his intentions heading into AEW WrestleDream, where he is set to challenge Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship in the promotion’s new Clockwork Carnage match. According to 411Mania, Joe recalled his reaction to learning the rules of the brand-new stipulation, saying he got his mind around them quickly, and expressed that he is looking forward to ending Ospreay’s reign atop AEW.

What Is Clockwork Carnage?

Clockwork Carnage is a new match concept being introduced by AEW specifically for the Joe-Ospreay World Title bout at WrestleDream. Pro Wrestling Sheet, via a report republished on TheSportster, noted that the stipulation’s debut has prompted fans to ask exactly how the match will look and function, underscoring that this is an unfamiliar format even by AEW’s often inventive standards for marquee title matches.

Samoa Joe’s comments suggest the challenger has already been briefed on the mechanics and is comfortable with what the match will require of both competitors. His stated focus remains squarely on walking out of WrestleDream as AEW World Champion, ending Ospreay’s run with the title.

Kevin Knight’s Account of Steven Borden’s Hospital Stay

Separately, eWrestlingNews reported that Kevin Knight has detailed staying with Steven Borden at the hospital following a frightening injury Borden suffered during a coast-to-coast spot at AEW All Out 2026, which saw the match stopped immediately. Speaking with ClutchPoints, Knight said the spot had been discussed beforehand between the two performers and stated he believes Borden will return. The report did not specify a timeline for that return or disclose the nature of Borden’s injury beyond the fact that he was knocked out during the spot.

While the Borden situation and the Joe-Ospreay WrestleDream build are separate storylines, both underscore an active stretch for AEW heading into the pay-per-view, with a new title match format debuting at the same time the promotion continues to address the fallout from Borden’s All Out 2026 injury scare.
