ROH Women’s World Champion Athena has made her next challenger official, calling out Hyan during the November 5 episode of ROH TV on HonorClub. The segment sets up a ROH Women’s World Championship match between the two at Final Battle 2026, which takes place December 4 at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas.
According to Fightful, “The Forever Champion” used the TV appearance to put both Diamante and Billie Starkz on notice as well, signaling that her radar extends beyond just Hyan heading into the promotion’s year-end pay-per-view. Athena also suggested that Hyan could breathe new life into MxM, though the full context of that remark was not detailed in the available reporting.
TPWW confirmed the match is now officially set for the Final Battle 2026 card, describing it plainly as “Hyan vs. Athena (c)” for the ROH Women’s World Championship. The addition gives the December 4 show in San Antonio a confirmed women’s title bout, with Athena looking to continue her reign as champion against a challenger she called out directly on television rather than through a backstage or online angle.
Athena has built a reputation in Ring of Honor as one of the promotion’s most dominant and outspoken titleholders, and her decision to publicly single out Hyan while also namechecking Diamante and Billie Starkz suggests the champion sees multiple threats circling her title as Final Battle approaches. Whether those two names factor into the San Antonio card in another capacity, or simply received a verbal warning, was not clarified in the sources covering the segment.
For Hyan, the opportunity represents a chance to challenge for the ROH Women’s World Championship on one of the promotion’s marquee annual shows. Final Battle has historically served as Ring of Honor’s biggest event of the calendar year, and a title change or successful defense in San Antonio would carry significant weight heading into 2027.
No further matches or stipulations for the Hyan versus Athena contest have been announced. Ring of Honor has not released additional details beyond confirming the championship bout for the December 4 card.
