Hot Tag – Roman’s Still The Ceiling And LA Knight Is About To Find Out What That Means

Let me tell you what I watched on Monday night and what it actually means, because I’ve seen this story told before and I know exactly where it ends if WWE does their job.

Roman Reigns walking into a building and immediately dismissing the LA Knight-as-The-Rock comparison isn’t just a promo beat. That’s a gauntlet being laid on the floor, deliberately, in front of everybody. The moment you make that comparison in this company — and Reigns made it just to kill it — you’ve told the audience exactly what the stakes are. Knight isn’t being positioned as a guy chasing a belt. He’s being positioned as a guy chasing legitimacy. That’s a bigger story. That’s actually the smarter story, if they trust it.

And then he goes and jumps him backstage.

Good. That’s exactly right. You don’t let Roman Reigns give a speech and shake hands. The attack after the Solo Sikoa-Jacob Fatu incident is the show doing its job — stacking consequences, making the landscape feel dangerous, reminding you that the Tribal Chief doesn’t debate, he decides. The fact that Solo is now standing alongside Knight rather than Roman gives this thing genuine texture. That’s a family fracture with teeth.

Here’s my concern, and I say this as someone who has watched this company fumble a loaded gun more than once: LA Knight cannot be on the wrong end of this forever. The backstage attack is fine — great, even — for Act One. But if we’re still watching Knight eat Roman’s leftovers come October, you’ve wasted the only organic babyface reaction that’s felt real since the first half of Cody’s run. The crowd doesn’t manufacture what they do for Knight. That’s earned. Don’t you dare leave it on the table.

As for Raquel-Sol? Controversial finish in the opener for the Women’s IC title is one of those booking decisions that either means they’re protecting Sol for a third chapter or they couldn’t figure out the finish at catering Friday night. I genuinely cannot tell you which. I’ve seen both. They look identical until about three weeks later.

Roman burying The Rock comparison while simultaneously proving why it exists — that’s a man who still knows what he’s doing on a microphone. Credit where it’s due, always.

But the ball is in Knight’s court now. And more importantly, it’s in creative’s court.

They better not drop it.
