Ilja Dragunov will make his AEW in-ring debut against “Speedball” Mike Bailey on the October 21 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan has announced. The match was confirmed by Fightful and F4W Online, both reporting that Dragunov’s first match for the promotion will come against Bailey at the Coral Gables broadcast.
Dragunov initially arrived in AEW at WrestleDream, but Wednesday’s Dynamite will mark the first time fans see him compete inside the ring for the company. His opponent, Bailey, is coming off a high-profile outing in the Clockwork Carnage match for the AEW World Title, giving him recent momentum heading into this new singles encounter.
Also added to the same card is a tag team match pitting Will Ospreay and Adam Copeland against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight. According to F4W Online, Copeland had struggled for much of his own involvement in the Clockwork Carnage match over the weekend but managed to tie things together before that contest concluded. His pairing with Ospreay on Dynamite puts two of AEW’s most prominent in-ring performers on the same side of the ring against the Fletcher and Knight combination.
Both matches give the October 21 Dynamite card significant weight. Dragunov’s debut singles match is the most notable addition, since it represents the first opportunity for AEW audiences to evaluate him in live competition after his introductory appearance at WrestleDream. Bailey, fresh off his world title match involvement, presents a credible and high-profile first test for the newcomer.
The Ospreay-Copeland pairing against Fletcher and Knight adds further stakes to the show, bringing together four wrestlers with ties to AEW’s upper card and championship scene. Fletcher and Knight will look to make a statement against two established names, while Ospreay and Copeland aim to build on recent performances, including Copeland’s efforts in the Clockwork Carnage bout.
AEW has not released additional details beyond these two confirmed matches for the October 21 Dynamite broadcast from Coral Gables.
