UFC and Cleveland Clinic have renewed their longstanding partnership, with UFC providing a $1 million contribution to fund the Professional Athletes Brain Health Study through 2030, according to a release from UFC shared by Fightful.
As part of the renewed agreement, WWE is joining the study, and Zuffa Boxing athletes are now eligible to participate as well. Zuffa Boxing is the boxing promotion operated under the same corporate umbrella as UFC.
The Professional Athletes Brain Health Study has tracked cognitive and neurological health in combat sports athletes, and the extended funding through 2030 continues that work with an expanded pool of participants spanning multiple promotions under the shared ownership structure.
WWE’s inclusion in the study marks a notable expansion of the research beyond combat sports disciplines like mixed martial arts and boxing into professional wrestling, reflecting the increasingly intertwined business relationship between UFC and WWE under their shared parent company.
No further details on the study’s methodology, timeline for WWE talent participation, or specific terms of the renewed partnership were included in the release.
