AEW Full Gear’s championship lineup grew by two matches following the October 21 episode of Dynamite, with new title opportunities earned on both the men’s and women’s tag team sides of the roster.
Mark Davis and Jake Doyle opened the show with a dominant victory over The Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, in a squash-style win that immediately set up a title opportunity. Shortly after the win was confirmed, AEW announced that Davis and Doyle will challenge the Jacksons for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Full Gear. The one-sided nature of the win over the Bucks opening the broadcast gave Davis and Doyle immediate momentum heading into the announcement, positioning them as a serious threat to the champions.
Later in the same episode, a second title match was added when Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander earned a shot at the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships. Cameron and Statlander secured their opportunity with a victory over Divine, and the win was followed by confirmation that they will challenge The Brawling Birds, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor, for the titles at Full Gear.
Both matches give challengers who built momentum through decisive wins on Dynamite a chance to capture tag team gold on one of AEW’s marquee pay-per-view events. For Davis and Doyle, defeating the Young Bucks in such emphatic fashion on the same night their title match was announced underscores the stakes of their challenge against the Jacksons. For Cameron and Statlander, their win over Divine translated directly into a championship opportunity against Hayter and Windsor, who will be defending the Women’s World Tag Team Championships at Full Gear.
With both matches now confirmed, AEW’s Full Gear card continues to take shape with multiple championships on the line. Further details on the event, including additional matches, are expected to be announced in the lead-up to the pay-per-view.
