Backstage News On Some WWE Officials Hoping For Matt Cardona To Be Repackaged As Zach Ryder

Matt Cardona returned to WWE earlier this year but surprisingly didn't assume his old character, Zack Ryder, instead going by his real name. WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported today that when Cardona was brought back, there was "hope" among some people backstage that WWE would eventually present him as Zack Ryder. The reason for this is because Ryder was already an established character that WWE had previously built and the audience was familiar with that name rather than Matt Cardona, which he used on the indies.
