AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that Jamie Hayter is sidelined with an injury, forcing a planned AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship defense off the card. Khan delivered the update during a livestream on X following the three-hour AEW Dynamite and Collision broadcast from Cleveland, Ohio.

According to Khan, Hayter suffered the injury during a Chicago Street Fight in which she and her Brawling Birds tag partner faced Divine Dominion’s Lena Kross and Megan Bayne. Khan did not disclose the specific nature of the injury but said he hopes Hayter will be back in action within a couple of weeks.

“I was hoping The Brawling Birds would be able to defend the Tag Team Championship, but Jamie Hayter, from that Chicago Street Fight, is still out injured,” Khan said, per Diva Dirt. “Hopefully Jamie Hayter will be back soon.”

Hayter, a former AEW Women’s World Champion, currently holds the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship alongside her Brawling Birds partner. With Hayter unavailable, the previously planned title defense has been postponed, leaving the champions unable to put the belts on the line as scheduled. TPWW reported that the injury stemmed specifically from the Chicago Street Fight bout against Divine Dominion, the team of Lena Kross and Megan Bayne, tying the setback directly to that match.

Khan’s announcement came directly after the taping of a three-hour Dynamite and Collision show, a format AEW has used periodically to accommodate expanded programming. The timing of the update, delivered live rather than through a written statement, underscored the short notice with which the creative team had to adjust its tag team title plans.

No further details on the severity of Hayter’s injury, a target return date beyond Khan’s “couple of weeks” estimate, or the opponent for a rescheduled Women’s World Tag Team Championship defense have been made public. AEW has not yet announced when or against whom the Brawling Birds will next defend the titles once Hayter is cleared to return. Until that happens, the status of the championship picture involving the Brawling Birds and Divine Dominion remains unresolved.
