Andrade El Idolo retained the AEW National Championship against Tommaso Ciampa at AEW WrestleDream 2026, extending his reign with a seventh successful defense of the title.

The result was confirmed by Fightful, POST Wrestling, NoDQ and Wrestling Inc, all of whom reported Andrade going over Ciampa on the card to keep the National Championship around his waist.

Andrade has held the National Championship since July 2026, and the win over Ciampa marks the latest in a string of defenses that have kept him at the top of that title picture through the summer and into the fall. Taking on Ciampa represented one of the more notable tests of that reign given Ciampa’s standing as a former NXT Champion and a wrestler who has regularly featured in high-profile singles programs since arriving in AEW.

WrestleDream 2026 featured the National Championship as one of several title matches on the card, placing Andrade’s bout with Ciampa among the night’s marquee attractions. With the title retained, Andrade moves to eight successful defenses overall across his reign, continuing to build a championship resume that began when he first captured the belt in July.

No further detail on Andrade’s next challenger has been confirmed following the WrestleDream result, and AEW has not announced where the National Championship picture goes from here. For Ciampa, the loss closes out his pursuit of the title at WrestleDream, though the circumstances of the match itself were not elaborated on beyond the confirmed result across the reporting outlets.

The National Championship has been one of several title changes and defenses tracked throughout AEW’s 2026 calendar, and Andrade’s continued hold on the belt keeps him positioned as one of the promotion’s more consistent champions heading further into the year.
