WWE NXT has confirmed a North American Championship match and two Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic semifinal bouts for the October 27, 2026 episode, continuing one of the brand’s most prominent annual tag team tournaments while also moving its midcard title picture forward.
Champion Jackson Drake is scheduled to put the NXT North American Championship on the line against EK Prosper, giving Drake a chance to extend his reign in a direct title defense. No further details on the stipulations or build to the match were included in the announcement.
The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will advance to its semifinal round with two matches. Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno are set to face The Vanity Project, while Hank Walker and Tank Ledger will take on El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and a partner identified in the announcement only as part of that team. The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, named in honor of the late Dusty Rhodes, has become a staple postseason-style tournament for NXT’s tag division, and reaching the semifinal stage places both teams one win away from a spot in the tournament final.
Also addressed in the lineup announcement was the status of a previously planned six-man tag team match involving Mini Vikingo. According to Robert Stone, who made the announcement in his office to Vanity Project, Mini Vikingo has not been medically cleared to compete, and as a result the six-man tag match that had been scheduled for the October 27 show will not take place. No timetable for Mini Vikingo’s clearance or return was given, and no replacement match was announced in his place as of the lineup reveal.
The combination of a title defense and tournament semifinals gives the October 27 NXT card multiple stakes-driven matches heading into the show. The results of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic semifinals will determine which two teams advance to compete for the tournament, while Drake’s title defense against EK Prosper will decide whether the North American Championship changes hands or remains with its current holder.
