Backstage News On AEW’s Hopes Surrounding The Paramount Skydance–Warner Bros. Discovery Merger

As previously reported, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has expressed optimism regarding the pending acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) by Paramount Skydance. Khan stated that the merger “will be huge for AEW.” Additionally, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer indicated that Khan was “a lot happier” with Paramount winning the bidding war against Netflix. Khan had concerns about the implications of WWE’s primary streaming partner, Netflix, acquiring WBD, which would have meant maintaining HBO Max but not acquiring WBD’s linear TV networks.
