Cody Rhodes has detailed the stunt preparation that went into his role in the upcoming Street Fighter film, telling Fightful that he had to be “thought the right things to do” on set rather than simply relying on his professional wrestling background.
Rhodes, who has built a career on physical in-ring storytelling as a top WWE star, explained that translating that experience to a film production required dedicated coaching rather than assuming his wrestling skills would automatically carry over to movie stunt work. While he did not detail the specific techniques he was taught, his comments underline that the demands of film stunt choreography differ from what he does inside a wrestling ring, even for a performer accustomed to physical performance.
The scope of Rhodes’ involvement in the project appears to have expanded during filming. According to Ringside News, citing comments co-star Andrew Schulz made to ClutchPoints, Rhodes filmed extensive additional material alongside Schulz and actor Noah Centineo that ultimately did not make it into the finished film. Schulz said the trio improvised so heavily during one scene together that production ended up with roughly four hours of footage from that sequence alone, far more than could be used in the final cut.
Neither source detailed which characters Rhodes, Schulz or Centineo are playing in the film, nor did they specify a release date or further plot details for the Street Fighter adaptation. The reports also do not indicate whether any of the unused footage will surface as deleted scenes or bonus content once the film is released.
Rhodes’ expanding presence in film and television projects continues to run alongside his in-ring career as WWE Champion, reflecting the increasing crossover between top WWE talent and mainstream entertainment productions. The extent of his role in Street Fighter, and how prominently he ultimately features in the final cut given the amount of unused footage, remains to be seen once the film reaches audiences.
