Dax Harwood has spoken about the second match of FTR’s best-of-five series against the Motor City Machine Guns, which is scheduled for the October 24th edition of AEW Collision. Harwood and Cash Wheeler will take on Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin in the latest chapter of a rivalry that is being decided across five matches.
According to Fightful, Harwood discussed the significance of the match taking place on home turf, framing it as an opportunity for FTR to use the “home field advantage” to their benefit in the series. The comments underline how FTR are treating the best-of-five as a genuine sporting contest, with venue and crowd dynamics being factored into their approach match by match.
A best-of-five format means the series will continue until one team reaches three victories, giving added weight to every outing between the two teams. With match two taking place on Collision, the result will shape the trajectory of the remaining contests and determine how much pressure either side carries into the next installment.
FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns have built their reputations as two of the most respected tag teams in modern wrestling, and a series stretched across five matches gives both pairings extended time to showcase the technical and physical styles that have defined their careers. The format also allows storylines to develop between matches rather than being resolved in a single bout.
Away from the series, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin were also in action on October 23rd, picking up a win at FLEX Wrestling’s The Whole FLEXin’ Show in Elmira, New York. That event also saw Rob Van Dam defeat Sean Carr, with Bill Alfonso accompanying Van Dam to the LECOM Event Center. Per PWInsider’s report relayed by Wrestling Headlines, Carr blocked an early Van Daminator attempt and controlled large portions of the match before Van Dam ultimately rallied for the win.
The Motor City Machine Guns’ appearance on the independent card came just a day before their AEW Collision commitment, underscoring the busy schedule both teams are maintaining while the best-of-five series with FTR continues to play out.
