AEW unveiled a brand-new match concept called Clockwork Carnage during the October 3, 2026 episode of AEW Collision, with Tony Schiavone announcing that Will Ospreay will defend the AEW World Championship in the match at WrestleDream on October 17 in Orlando.

According to Fightful, the match type was brought to the promotion after Ospreay himself talked to AEW president Tony Khan about introducing the Clockwork Carnage concept. The match will feature eight wrestlers competing across two stages, with two competitors starting the bout after being selected, though the full field of participants and the complete set of rules have not yet been detailed in the available reports.

The announcement comes after Ospreay retained the AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley at All Out, according to WrestleTalk. F4W Online also noted that Ospreay already has a separate title defense lined up prior to WrestleDream, though specifics of that match were not included in the report.

AEW has not yet released a full breakdown of the Clockwork Carnage stipulation, and further details on the match’s rules and the remaining participants are expected to be announced ahead of WrestleDream on October 17 in Orlando.
