UFC president Dana White has given an update on Jake Hager, the AEW star known to wrestling fans as Jack Swagger, after Hager suffered a serious eye injury during a Power Slap competition and subsequently underwent emergency surgery.
According to Fightful, Hager competed against Johnny Magna on September 17, losing the bout via TKO. WrestleZone reported that Hager was left bleeding from his left eye after a shot from Magna, with F4W Online adding that the slap left Hager with blood and fluid leaking from his eye.
NoDQ reported that Hager has since had emergency surgery and is set to undergo further treatment for the injury. White addressed Hager’s status publicly, and according to Fightful’s report on his comments, said, “We’re sending him to a specialist down in Miami.”
The extent of Hager’s recovery timeline and any further treatment details have not been disclosed in the available reporting. Hager, who competed for years in WWE as Jack Swagger before becoming a prominent figure in AEW, has also pursued combat sports including Bellator MMA and Power Slap competitions.
