SmackDown rolls into Atlantic City tonight riding the momentum of Night of Champions, with Chad Gable fresh off that critically-acclaimed mask vs. mask classic against Kaiser and now eyeing the WWE Championship conversation. The six-woman tag is locked in, Rey Fenix defends the AAA Cruiserweight Championship, and Sami Zayn makes an appearance — meaning we’re getting the storyline reset and repositioning the roster for the second half of the year.
Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, & Chelsea Green vs. Jade Cargill, B-Fab, & Michin
Charlotte’s back to establishing hierarchy on the women’s side, and this six-woman is really about who WWE sees as the next credible title challenger. Watch for Jade to absorb the loss and pivot toward something bigger — or for Charlotte to take the fall and have it mean nothing.
WAW Pick: Charlotte’s team takes it clean, Flair stands tall over Cargill post-match.
AAA Cruiserweight Championship: Rey Fenix vs. El Hijo del Vikingo
This is a straight-up clinic waiting to happen. Fenix is one of the best pound-for-pound workers on the roster, and if Vikingo gets real time here, we’re looking at a spot-fest that’ll be the match of the night. The question is whether WWE lets Fenix retain or if they’re pulling the trigger on a title change.
WAW Pick: Fenix retains, but Vikingo makes him work for it and positions himself as a future challenger.
Sami Zayn Appearance
Could be an in-ring promo, could be a backstage interview, could be the setup for a championship program or a return to an ongoing storyline. Sami always delivers when given microphone time, so this is appointment viewing regardless of what they feed him.
WAW Pick: Sami cuts a killer promo that plants seeds for his next feud.
