Mick Foley has confirmed he personally reached out to Darby Allin to discuss the dangers of his in-ring style, but the AEW star has made clear he has no plans to tone things down. Foley revealed the conversation during a Sign-it-Live virtual signing session hosted by Highspots.

According to Foley, the topic of Allin came up as the signing went on, and the WWE Hall of Famer confirmed he did speak directly with Allin about his wrestling approach. Foley said Allin thanked him for the advice but told him he intends to continue wrestling the same way he always has, high risk and all.

Foley also commented on Allin’s physical condition following AEW’s Blood and Guts match, noting that Allin was walking “a little gingerly” afterward. Blood and Guts is AEW’s steel cage-based team match built around the WarGames concept, and it is known for its brutal, structure-heavy stipulations that regularly push performers to their physical limits.

Foley’s own wrestling legacy gives the exchange added weight. As one of the most recognizable hardcore performers in wrestling history, Foley built much of his career on a willingness to absorb extreme physical punishment, making him a credible voice when it comes to warning a younger performer about the long-term cost of that kind of style. Allin has developed a reputation in AEW for a similarly fearless, high-impact approach, frequently incorporating stunts and risks that go beyond standard in-ring maneuvers.

Neither Fightful nor Wrestling Headlines reported any specific injury diagnosis tied to Allin’s condition after Blood and Guts, and no further details have been confirmed about the extent of soreness or injury Foley was referencing. The reports also did not specify exactly when the conversation between Foley and Allin took place, only that Foley discussed it publicly during the Highspots signing.

Allin’s response, as relayed by Foley, suggests the AEW star remains committed to the physical, high-risk persona that has defined his run in the promotion, regardless of outside advice from a wrestler who experienced similar wear and tear firsthand. With no indication from either source that Allin’s booking or schedule will change as a result of the conversation, the exchange stands primarily as a notable moment of one generation’s hardcore standard-bearer counseling another.
