Trick Williams will defend the WWE United States Championship against Baron Corbin inside a Steel Cage on the September 25 episode of WWE SmackDown, which takes place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The match was announced by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, according to multiple outlets including WrestleZone, eWrestlingNews, WrestleView, WrestleTalk and TPWW.
The stipulation eliminates the possibility of outside interference, with the match able to end only by pinfall, submission or by a competitor escaping the structure. Williams currently holds the United States Championship and will look to retain it against Corbin inside the cage.
ProWrestling.net also confirmed the Steel Cage title match as part of its preview of the September 25 SmackDown card, noting that additional Money in the Bank qualifying matches were announced for the same show.
With the cage stipulation in place, the September 25 SmackDown broadcast marks a significant title defense for Williams as champion, pitting him against Corbin in a structure historically used by WWE to settle heated rivalries without outside factors affecting the outcome.
