YOH retained the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship on Wednesday, defeating three-time former champion Taiji Ishimori in the main event of NJPW’s Road to Destruction show, according to POST Wrestling.
Ishimori was unable to reclaim the title he has held on three previous occasions, but the story did not end with the bell. F4W Online reported that a post-match angle saw Ishimori’s tag team partner, Robbie X, step forward and stake his claim as YOH’s next challenger for the Junior Heavyweight title.
The same Road to Destruction card also featured a tag team title defense, with Mistico and Desperado successfully defending their titles, per POST Wrestling.
NJPW has not yet announced a date or event for a Robbie X challenge, and further details on the sanctioning of that matchup have not been confirmed.
